Circular Health Talks

Circular Health Talks is a series of seminars and lectures focused on expanding the traditional One Health model by integrating cross-discipline perspectives towards a specific issue. These talks work in conjunction with our Circular Health Initiative, viewing wicked problems with a radical, interdisciplinary viewpoint, and often supported with our many research programs and working groups. 

• COVID-19 Update Webinars

  Our COVID-19 Update Webinar series was started in January 2020 in response to the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus in China.

  Since then, these talks have evolved into a bi-weekly update, providing the latest news, research, and reaction from virologist and Center Director Dr. Ilaria Capua, and Dr. Sonja Rasmuseen, Professor in the Departments of Pediatrics and Epidemiology. Dr. Capua views the global situation and the latest public health measures, while Dr. Rasmussen provides a deep dive into the most recent peer-reviewed studies and data.

  • Hypatia Prize Ceremony Lecture
    
    • This lecture was given by Dr. Ilaria Capua after she was rewarded the Hypatia Prize by the Barcelona City Council in collaboration with Academia Europaea. This award recognizes an outstanding researcher who has worked at the highest international level, with a strong influence on various fields of knowledge and a positive impact on society. This talk demonstrated the need for an interdisciplinary approach to health after the COVID pandemic, with highlights on thermostable vaccines, sex/gender by default, and the value of big data.
  • Circular Health Initiative
    • This presentation by Dr. Capua gives a bird's eye view of Circular Health - what it is, how it evolved from One Health, and its basic structure in applying this concept through our multiple research programs and working groups.
