(Oct/15/22) The number of monkeypox cases has decreased at the global level, even if we saw a rapid increase in the past few months. However, we need to ask, what happened? How did we contain the outbreak? Is it really contained?  What did we learn from the COVID pandemic? Read more here

(Sep/2/22) The CDC published a report modelling the impact of sexual networks in the transmission of Monkeypox virus Among Gay, Bisexual, and Other Men Who Have Sex With Men. The report shows interesting insights on potential protection strategies for the groups most at risk for the virus infection.   Read it here

(Sep/2/22) The WHO recently released their interim guidance on monkeypox vaccines. The publication indicates seven recommendations on different topics related to the outbreak, from vaccination policy development, to vaccine choice, and global coordination for vaccine supply.   Read it here

(Aug/23/22) French researchers found evidence of transmission from a monkeypox patient to his dog. This is particularly relevant given that it is the first confirmed case of human-to-animal transmission.  Read the article here

(Aug/12/22) Experts from the World Health Organization (WHO) declared that the infections of monkeypox in the African continent are not, like in the rest of the world, concentrated in men who have sex with men, but by contracting it from animals that carry it, revealing the infectiousness of the virus. Read the article here

(Aug/4/22) The USA Government, in a declaration made by Xavier Becerra (the US Health Secretary), declared the monkeypox outbreak as a national public health emergency due to the accelerated spread of the virus in the country. Read more here
